NECO GCE – Information in General
1. Once paid, the registration fee is non-refundable.
2. The use of trustworthy computer cafés is strongly advised as the Council will not be held responsible for candidate registration problems. (A list of suggested cyber cafés in every state where candidates can log on to register is accessible on the NECO website under Internet Service Operators.)
3. Before registering, candidates should carefully read and follow the online scratch card instructions.
4. Before registering, candidates should review the regulations and syllabuses.
5. Candidates should be aware that their registration-related submitted photo or image will be imprinted on their certificates.
6. In the exam room, no smoking, cell phones, or other electronic communication devices are permitted.
7. Candidates are required to wear muftis, and examination hall access with weapons is prohibited.
8. You may not submit more than one entry. All of the results for candidates who register more than once will be thrown out.
9. Candidates will have to buy a new scratch card if their scratch card is damaged or lost before registering.
10. Please take note that after the exam has started, no applicant may enter the room.
11. It is required to wear a face mask in the exam room.
12. Social and physical distance will be firmly enforced and observed in the exam room or classroom.
13. Each candidate must bring their own hand sanitizer to the exam room or classroom.
14. A applicant who exhibits COVID-19 symptoms during the examination will not be permitted to proceed until he or she has received medical clearance.
NECO GCE Exam Locations
Each state’s exam locations have been divided into neighborhoods. In the state where they plan to take the exam, candidates must choose a neighborhood. After submitting their registration information online, they will have their choice of a center automatically assigned within the chosen neighborhood.

Candidates should be aware that the languages of Nigeria (Hausa, Igbo, and Yoruba) contain literary elements.

Period of Registration
The registration period runs from August 17 to November 14, 2023, at midnight.
Fee For Submission
It costs Seventeen Thousand Eight Hundred Naira (N17,800.00) to register for the NECO SSCE External Exam.
N50.00 is the stamp duty.
The NECO Treasury Single Account (TSA) SSCE (E) NECO portal should be used for all payments.
Candidates With Visual Impairments
Candidates with visual impairments must register just like everyone else. However, while entering their biodata in the offline application during registration, individuals must specify the type of their impairment.
Both online and walk-in registrations are available:
• Payment of an additional One Thousand Naira (N1,000) would be required for late registration.
• Walk-in registration will begin on November 15 and end on November 19, 2023. Only Twenty Thousand Naira (#25,000.00) is required for each contestant. A day before the time of the first subject or paper you plan to take, you must register.

Candidates or registration locations (cyber cafés) must go to www.neco.gov.ng, register an account using their email addresses or phone numbers, activate their accounts, and pay into the NECOSA using one of five payment methods.

Candidates are reminded that all NECO transactions no longer use scratch cards.
Registrar’s Application
Both online and offline registrations are available. To find the closest registration location (Cybercafe), prospective candidates should use the Council’s website, neco.gov.ng SSCE External link, and register at any moment throughout the allotted registration period. In order to register, candidates can also set up an account, buy a registration token, and then go to the registration point.
• For registration, a passport-size photo is required. The candidate’s passport-size photo must have a white backdrop and be no older than SIX MONTHS. The passport-sized photo may also be taken at the time of registration using a system camera, if necessary.
• Biometric fingerprints of every candidate will be captured during their offline registration.
• Candidates should be aware that the examination will include biometric verification.
• Candidates whose fingerprints at the time of verification are found to be mismatched are deemed impersonators and would be sanctioned in accordance with existing laws.
Application Methodology
• Create an Account: Go to https://ssceexternal.neco.gov.ng/ and click the Register Here Link to create an account.
• Activate Your Account: You’ll receive an email to do so. To activate your account, adhere to the email’s instructions. The email may occasionally get in your spam folder.
Visit ssceexternal.neco.gov.ng to log in. Log in with your registered email address and password.
• Make Payment: You can pay for the SSCE external examination after logging in. You’ve made a successful payment, and you’ll soon receive an exam and/or four-figure table token (s)
• Find a Registration Point: To register, go to any authorized registration point operated by a cybercafé. To find one close to you, browse to https://operator.neco.gov.ng.
· Register Offline: Fill out an offline registration form with your personal information, including fingerprints and the subjects you want to take.
Print your photocard, and then upload your data using your token. You will be given a picture card with your registration number and details after the system has verified your token.
NOTE: Candidates must register, have an online account, or have one created for them by a cybercafé in order to get examination numbers and input their data to the NECO portal online. Register an account and buy a registration token (s) there (scratch cards are no longer used for SSCE External registration).
External Registration Token for SSCE
Candidates can register for the SSCE External Exam either independently or through a Registration Point using the Registration Token. Candidate must buy a registration token before they can take the SSCE External Exam. A candidate can either visit the closest Registration Point or purchase a Registration Token from their accounts.
NECO GCE Timetable and Photocard Attestation
The following must be obtained from the Cyber Cafe by each candidate after completing the registration process.
• The examination schedule
• A minimum of one (1) clean copy of the NECO Photocard, which will be required to allow the candidate entry to the testing facility. (Candidates should be aware that passport-size photos with unclear picture cards won’t be accepted in the examination room.)
Any of the following individuals should SIGN AND STAMP the Referee’s Attestation area of the Photocard:
• A recognized senior secondary school principal
• A Chief Imam or an ordained clergyman.
• An officer who has been promoted to the rank of captain or higher in the Nigerian Armed Forces or Police
• A Senior Civil Servant who is above GL.
• A lawyer with at least ten years’ worth of experience.
